India, Australia discuss strategy, defense and security issues

India and Australia will hold their second 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue on Monday, bringing together their defense and foreign ministers. The talks are expected to cover a wide range of strategic, defense and security issues, including the situation in West Asia, China’s growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region, India’s diplomatic tensions with Canada and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Discussions will also focus on strengthening bilateral, regional and global cooperation, with an emphasis on small and multilateral partnerships. In addition to the 2+2 Dialogue, the Foreign Ministers of India and Australia will hold separate bilateral meetings to discuss specific aspects of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

India and Australia held their first 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in September 2021 . The upcoming meeting underscores the evolving strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to regional and global security.
