Georgia moves to No. 1 in College Football Playoff rankings

On Tuesday, Georgia moved past Ohio State to No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings, with the top four spots going to No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Florida.

On Saturday, Georgia beat Mississippi State 52-17 in what may have been the most impressive game of the season. It was the second straight week the Bulldogs beat a ranked opponent, following their win over Missouri.

Michigan also just beat a ranked team. The Wolverines beat Penn State 24-15, but couldn’t get past Big Ten foe Ohio State. They will host the Sevens football team on Nov. 25th.

The top eight teams in the rankings all won last week, and the only change the selection committee made in this group was the No. 1 ranked team.

Washington State is once again ranked fifth, followed by Oregon, Texas and Alabama.

Missouri is ninth and Louisville is new to the top 10 this week.

No team with more than two losses has ever made the College Football Playoff, and only one team in the Power Five has made it to the final four – Cincinnati in 2021.

Using that as a yardstick, there appear to be nine teams vying for a playoff spot: the top eight plus the University of Louisville.
